It was inaugurated in 1961, it is another of the beautiful churches that Ica has, it belongs to the Franciscan order, its altar is finely decorated with gold leaf applications. Its ceiling is vaulted with applications of figures representing suns and Greek type cornices lined in marble, it abounds in stained glass windows where the life of St. Francis of Assisi is depicted.
Located between the intersection of Municipalidad and San Martín streets.
The church of San Francisco is striking for its modernized Romanesque architectural style, the facade has three bodies and two double-arched towers.
It also has three naves, the main one is vaulted and culminates in a marble temple with the image of the Immaculate Conception. The sides of the nave end in secondary altars that house different sacred images.
It is worth mentioning that the church houses a good number of images of saints, there is also a canvas of the Lima school where the image of the Virgin with Saint Dominic of Guzman and Saint Francis of Assisi, dating from the second half of the eighteenth century.
The church has catacombs in its interior, but its entrance is forbidden, due to the danger it represents as a consequence of a previous earthquake.
