The tour begins with a 7:30 AM pickup from your hotel for an excursion to the Sacred Valley. Our first stop is the Pisac Archaeological Site, located 45 minutes from Cusco. Pisac, named after the Quechua word for 'partridge,' offers insight into Inca expertise through its terraces, architecture, and urban planning. As part of the Qhapaq Ñan road system, it connected the jungle—now the Manu National Reserve—with Cusco.
Around noon, we’ll stop in Urubamba for a buffet lunch featuring delicious Peruvian cuisine. In the afternoon, we explore the Ollantaytambo Archaeological Site, which once stored agricultural products and served as a military and religious center for the Incas. Its walls and watchtowers hint at its strategic use. Known as a city frozen in time for its Inca-colonial adaptation, Ollantaytambo is recognized as the “Best Tourist Town in the World”. Inca Pachacutec elevated the town to its peak splendor.
We conclude the day by boarding a train to Aguas Calientes, a charming town where we will spend the night, preparing for our visit to Machu Picchu the next day.
