DAY 1: Cusco – Sacred Valley - Aguas Calientes

The tour begins with a 7:30 AM pickup from your hotel for an excursion to the Sacred Valley. Our first stop is the Pisac Archaeological Site, located 45 minutes from Cusco. Pisac, named after the Quechua word for 'partridge,' offers insight into Inca expertise through its terraces, architecture, and urban planning. As part of the Qhapaq Ñan road system, it connected the jungle—now the Manu National Reserve—with Cusco.

Around noon, we’ll stop in Urubamba for a buffet lunch featuring delicious Peruvian cuisine. In the afternoon, we explore the Ollantaytambo Archaeological Site, which once stored agricultural products and served as a military and religious center for the Incas. Its walls and watchtowers hint at its strategic use. Known as a city frozen in time for its Inca-colonial adaptation, Ollantaytambo is recognized as the “Best Tourist Town in the World”. Inca Pachacutec elevated the town to its peak splendor.

We conclude the day by boarding a train to Aguas Calientes, a charming town where we will spend the night, preparing for our visit to Machu Picchu the next day.

DAY 2: Machu Picchu — Cusco

We will depart early for the bus station, the starting point for our journey to the mystical Archaeological Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. During the 25-minute journey, excitement will fill the air, as if the surrounding mountains whisper ancient secrets with every breeze. Finally, we will arrive at Machu Picchu to witness the breathtaking sunrise and begin our tour.

Our expert guide will lead you through the Historical Sanctuary of Machu Picchu, immersing you in the captivating history and architecture of the citadel. You will witness the incredible achievements of the Incas and marvel at the natural surroundings that embrace them. Machu Picchu presents itself as a prodigy of engineering, art, and architecture, fused in perfect harmony with nature.

The citadel consists of both agricultural and urban areas, featuring squares, temples, roads, staircases, terraces, and aqueducts, among other fascinating elements. The agricultural terraces, known as andenes, are supported by imposing stone walls, while the hydraulic system uses channels and aqueducts for efficient water transport. Machu Picchu is considered a paradigm of agricultural engineering, where ancient wisdom meets technical perfection.

During the approximately 2-hour guided tour, you will travel through time, exploring every corner of this architectural wonder and uncovering the secrets of this historical treasure.

After the tour, we will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll have time for lunch before boarding the return train to Ollantaytambo. There, our team will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel in Cusco, concluding our exciting 2-day tour of the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu.
