Our horseback riding tour around Cusco begins with a pickup from your hotel around 9:00 AM. We will take a 20-minute ride to the Sacsayhuaman archaeological site, where we will explore its architecture, function, and significance. Next, we will travel to the Q'enqo archaeological site, known for its unique design. The name ‘Qenqo’ means ‘labyrinth,’ referring to the underground galleries within its stone structures. The site also features a semicircular amphitheater that served as an astronomical observatory to track seasonal changes.

After visiting these archaeological sites, we will head to the stable, the starting point where we’ll meet these beautiful animals. You will receive basic riding instructions before setting off on a one-hour journey through green fields around Cusco. Along the way, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the Andean landscapes and connect with nature from the back of a horse. While the ride is fast-paced and slightly challenging, it promises to be a rewarding experience.

After returning to the ranch, we will take transportation to visit the Inca archaeological site of Tambomachay, meaning ‘place of rest.’ This site was dedicated to water worship, providing water to Inca baths and nearby locations. Finally, we’ll arrive at the Puka Pukara archaeological site. ‘Puka’ means ‘red,’ and ‘Pukara’ translates to ‘fortress,’ giving it the name ‘Red Fortress.’ Puka Pukara functioned as an administrative control center during Inca times and served as an entrance to the city of Cusco, named for the reddish hue of the stones used in its construction.

Our tour concludes around 1:30 PM with a return to your hotel in Cusco, bringing an end to our horseback riding adventure.
