After breakfast, we’ll continue with a 1.5-hour drive along a dirt road to the community of Soraypampa, situated at 3,900 meters above sea level. Along the way, you will enjoy stunning landscapes and views of the breathtaking snow-capped Salkantay Mountain.
From Soraypampa, we will begin a 2 km uphill hike, which takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Along the way, you will enjoy panoramic views of snow-covered mountains, beautiful landscapes, and a variety of flora and fauna until we reach Humantay Lake, located at 4,200 meters above sea level.
Humantay Lake boasts turquoise waters, thanks to the minerals at its bottom, with the sky beautifully reflected on its surface. Fed by the mountain's glaciers, the lake is considered a natural gem. In addition to marveling at Humantay Lake, you will also enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, including the sacred, snow-capped Salkantay Mountain, revered as the holiest peak in Inca times and a place of ancient worship for Pachamama, or Mother Earth.
At the lake, you will have the chance to participate in a ceremony by placing stones as a gesture of gratitude for your visit to this magical place. Our guide will accompany you around the lake, sharing interesting facts along the way. After our visit, we will hike back to the community of Soraypampa, where we will board our transport to Mollepata and enjoy a delicious Andean lunch.
After lunch, we will begin our journey back to Cusco, concluding the tour around 6:30 PM, marking the end of our 1-day hike to Humantay Lake.
