Climate: Annual average temperature of 82.4 ºF (the highest temperature of 96.8 ºF and the lowest one of 62.6 ºF. The rain season begins from December to March.
How to get to Iquitos?
By air: Domestic flights from Lima – Iquitos (1 hour and 30 minutes approx.). From Tarapoto – Iquitos (50 minutes) from Pucallpa – Iquitos (1 hour).
Not domestic flights from Yurimaguas – Iquitos (40 minutes approx.) and form the city of Leticia in Colombia – Iquitos (1 hour approx.).
By river: From Pucallpa in the port La Hoyanda – Iquitos, 1.6 miles sailing in the Ucayali River, with stopovers in Requena and Contamana Ports, the duration of the trip depends of the kind of craft. If you travel by “deslizador” (a small motorboat but very quick) you would travel for 2 – 3 days depending of the river running. If you travel in “La Chata”; a big boat with a great capacity but slowly (4 – 7 days depending of the river running).
You will star the trip in the north jungle of Peru, ideal for the lovers of the tourism of the nature and the biodiversity. And for the ones who wants to be in touch with the virgin nature of the Amazon forests. From the city of Iquitos you will sail in Amazon River and begin the expeditions to the jungle. With the base at the lodges located in the center of the jungle, the ones who likes the adventure can get to the Reservations and the National Parks of the area that have an exuberant fauna and flora. And you can also be in touch with native people in the area.
